Auditions for our Sept 18-20 production of

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF

SATURDAY April 25 from 2-4pm

at Lipscomb University

School of Music, Arnold Rehearsal Hall, room 206, 6 University Park Dr, Nashville, TN 37204

(park in the loop off Belmont Blvd, walk down the side of the Health Sciences Building, you'll see a sign for the School of Music, enter and go up the stairs and the rehearsal hall is on the right. There is also an elevator for accessibility.)

SUNDAY May 3 from 1-4pm (time extended)

at Franklin’s Historic Presbyterian Church, 435 Main St Franklin, TN

(please enter through side door on 5th)

TUESDAY May 5 from 6-9pm (time extended)

at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 1216 Sneed Rd W, Franklin

Callbacks if needed will be Saturday May 9 from 12-4pm at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection.

If a dance call is needed, it will also take place that day.

Who is welcome?

Auditions are open to ALL ages and ALL experience levels. For youth under the age of 14, parents will be required to accompany them, or better yet, join onstage, as we welcome whole families to join our village of Anatevka!

All roles are available (see list below).

What should I bring?

A 32 bar or approximately 90 second excerpt from a song in the style of the show.

An accompanist will be provided (bring your sheet music), or you can play a track on our Bluetooth speaker.

Be prepared to do a cold reading from the script if you are interested in named characters.

Production details

Performances are September 18-20 at the Williamson County Performing Arts Center.

Rehearsal period starts Aug 2 with mandatory tech week at the theater starting Sept 14.

In general, rehearsals will be scheduled: Sunday afternoons, Monday, Tuesday and a combination of Thursday or Friday evenings. Not all cast members will be called to all rehearsals. Rehearsals will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 1216 Sneed Rd, Franklin.

This production will be directed by John Schultz. Music Director is Scott Brons. Choreographer is Ashley Strella.

Roles in Fiddler on the Roof:

Tevye: The likeable, hard-working, pious dairyman who always tries to see the positive side of life. He is a proud patriarch and father of five daughters, closely raised according to the old scriptures. Gender: male, Age: 45-60, Vocal range Bass-Baritone Ab2 - F4.

Golde: Tevye's strong-willed wife who wishes for her daughters to have good husbands and live easier than she and Tevye. Gender: female Age: 40 to 50, Vocal range Mezzo-Soprano A3 - Eb5.

Tzeitel: Tevye's eldest daughter, who is madly in love with Motel. She is loyal to her family but typically challenges the town's traditions. Gender: female, Age: 18 to 25, Vocal range Mezzo-Soprano B3 - D5.

Hodel: Tevye's second eldest daughter, who becomes involved with Perchik. She eventually leaves Anatevka to join Perchik in Siberia. Gender: female, Age: 18 to 23, Vocal range Soprano B3 - E5.

Chava: Tevye's middle daughter who loves to read. Falls in love and runs off with Fydeka, a Russian soldier. Gender: female, Age: 15 to 20, Vocal range Mezzo-Soprano B3 - D5

Shprintze: Tevye's fourth eldest daughter who takes lessons at home from Perchik. Gender: female, Age: 9 to 13, Vocal range Mezzo-Soprano B3 - D5.

Bielke: Tevye's youngest daughter. Takes lessons at home from Perchik. Gender: female, Age: 8 to 12, Vocal range Mezzo-Soprano B3 - D5.

Yente: The meddling matchmaker. She is a widow and village busybody who knows all of the town gossip. Gender: female, Age: 50 to 60, Vocal range Mezzo-Soprano F3 - F5.

Motel: The poor and meek tailor who shares a deep love with Tzeitel. Sensitive and nervous, but sincere and friendly. Gender: male, Age: 18 to 25, Vocal range Tenor E3 -F#4.

Perchik: The outspoken student and visitor to Anatevka, who constantly challenges the traditions of the town. He eventually falls in love with Hodel. Gender: male, Age: 18-25, Vocal range Tenor B2 - E4.

Lazar Wolf: The feisty, brawny butcher and the town's wealthiest citizen who wishes to marry Tzeitel. Gender: male, Age: 40 to 50, Vocal range Baritone C3 - F#4.

Avram: Runs the local bookshop and keeps the town advised of all the news in the area. Gender: male, Age: 40 to 60, Vocal range Baritone D3 - Eb4.

Grandma Tzeitel: Golde's deceased grandmother, who endorses the marriage between Tzeitel and Motel. Gender: female, Age: 60 to 75, Vocal range Mezzo-Soprano C#4 - D5.

Fruma-sarah: Lazar's Wolf's deceased first wife. She becomes enraged when her husband plans to wed Tzeitel. Gender: female, Age: 35 to 45, Vocal range Mezzo-Soprano C4- Eb5.

Constable: Russian military official stationed near Anatevka who knows the villagers well, however he has superficial relationships with the villagers. Gender: male, Age: 35 to 45. Speaking role.

Fyedka: A strong, young Russian soldier who sees past his military obligations and falls in love with Chava. He challenges Tevye's imposed silence. Gender: male, Age: 18 to 25. Speaking role.

Rabbi: the village religious Leader. Gender: male, Age: 40-60, Vocal range Baritone.
